More Than Candy and Costumes

More Than Candy and Costumes

By Isabella Robusto | Driven Different

Halloween has always been one of my favorite times of the year. The costumes, the creativity, the excitement and, of course, the candy! Growing up, my family always went all out with an amazing Halloween display. It was something we looked forward to creating together, and I loved seeing how much joy it brought to everyone who stopped by.

But as I've gotten older, I've realized Halloween is about something bigger than costumes and candy.

For a lot of kids, Halloween might be the first time they get to dress up as their dreams.

Think about it. One night, you can be anything you want. An astronaut, a firefighter, a superhero, a professional athlete or even a race car driver. Kids choose costumes that represent people they admire, careers they dream about or the kind of person they imagine becoming.

And that's pretty powerful.

When a little girl puts on a racing suit and helmet, she's not just wearing a costume. For a moment, she's picturing herself behind the wheel. She's imagining what it would feel like to compete, to go fast and to do something that maybe once seemed impossible.

I know firsthand how important it is to have people to look up to and dreams worth chasing. My journey in racing started with a passion and the belief that I could turn something I loved into something bigger. It is not always easy, but every step has reinforced something I believe:

If you can envision it, and you're willing to put in the work to create it, you might be surprised by what's possible.

Of course, dreams don't happen overnight. They take commitment, determination, challenges, road blocks, sacrifice and the courage to keep going when things get difficult. But every big accomplishment starts somewhere, often with a kid who simply imagines themselves doing something extraordinary.

That's what I love about Halloween. Behind every costume is a little imagination, a little inspiration and maybe even a glimpse of someone's future.

So this Halloween, when you see kids dressed as their favorite heroes, athletes or role models, remember that they might be showing you more than a costume. They might be showing you who they want to become.

And who knows? The little girl dressed as a race car driver today might be standing in Victory Lane someday.

Dream big. Work hard. Stay Driven Different.

Happy Halloween! 🎃🏁
